Based off of the 1970’s “porn chic” movie “Deep Throat,” “Throat: A Cautionary Tale” is a dark “porn noir” feature. And what a feature it is — winner of 5 AVN Awards including Best Oral Sex Scene, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress: Penny Flame. If you are unfamiliar with the original “Deep Throat” the premise is based on one women’s discovery that her clit is placed at the back of her throat enabling her to give great head and pleasure herself at the same time.

Sasha Grey plays Julie, the woman with the talent many men wish more women had. Julie works as a peep show girl, is in a bad relationship, and is sexually frustrated. As she intones over footage of her deep throating a very large dildo, “My pussy was always my enemy. It never gave me what everyone else had. My girlfriends would talk about masturbating and I tried. But it never happened for me…..I was ashamed of myself. Then I found it in my throat.”

Make no mistake about it Sasha Grey can deep throat and look like it is all her pleasure: spit, slobber, gagging, tears, and all. That is until her bad boyfriend makes her talent a cash cow. The movie is incredibly plot driven with flashbacks on Julie’s time as a sex worker and present day shots on those trying to solve Julie’s murder. Yes, this is murder mystery porn — something that I found a little too dark for me. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth the watch.

“Throat: A Cautionary Tale” is 2 hours long with 1 hour of bonus feature footage. The sex scenes runs the usually gamut, with blowjobs and facial shots being the main focus. If that is your bag and/or you think Sasha Grey is a fox, you will defiantly want to pick up this skin flick.
