A surprising ending, both unsatisfying in a way, but also interesting. Unsatisfying of course because, identifying with your principle character means you want her to get what she wants. But its refreshing that this isn't just plain fantasy. Things like this happen in real life, and having this in your narrative deepens both your characters your overall story arc. Listening to erotic stories is entirely new to me, and I have only subscribed to your podcast for 3 episodes now. Something interesting struck me though. My motivation for consuming any kind of erotica is of course to get off on it. And by that I don't mean the physical "getting off". As you probably well know, sexual themes turn us on in our minds more powerfully and sooner than our bodies. The first time I listened to your podcast, i was on my commute to work. Listening to these words, their meaning, the grin I involuntarily get on my face, the embarrassment I feel being in the presence of strangers while listening to this, my eyes shifting around the train, the constant reminding myself that no one else can hear what I am hearing. I am not embarrassed to say I had to pause the podcast several times that first time, only resuming when I was on the street, alone and in a sense more private again. My point is that listening to Erotica is unlike listening to anything else. The level of engagement is so much higher, I am so much more invested. That made the "betrayal" of Xavier so much more potent. I found myself getting angry at him, embarrassed to be a man even, to be associated with that, all to familiar, behavior. So while I shared your characters disappointment strongly, I also find myself invested in your characters a lot more. They have become very real now, in a way that could not happen where this just a plain erotic fantasy as you find so often on the internet.
