Something as simple as you getting on a plane to fly across the country has had a profound emotional effect on me. I actually teared up when dropping you off at the airport. God knows we can use the space apart. I love my alone time and I’ve been fighting the idea of us as a social entity.

I am enjoying getting to know our house as mine. And in that, a part of me is frightened by how much we have invested in one another. What if something happened to you or me or neither one of us could keep the commitments we have made to each other. Just thinking about the simple fact that something awful could happen to the plane or to New York City again. Of course, anything can happen at any point, like when you are here on an errand in your car. But something about your absence for five days has given me the simple reminder of how precious life is.

We have made this move together and we have taken on new challenges of identity, family, and self. These concepts will continue to develop and change. And I want you to know I am happy to be your partner in crime with all of it.
